Overview
Balaji Consultants specialises in the technology, engineering and supply of complete used-oil re-refining plants. Our experience covers batch, semi-continuous and continuous re-refining configurations incorporating appropriate process technologies including Continuous Flash Distillation, Wiped-Film Evaporation (WFE), Solvent Extraction, Batch Clay Treatment and Regenerative Clay Polishing.
There is no universal re-refining flowsheet. The optimum process whether batch vacuum distillation, continuous flash followed by wiped-film evaporation, or a hybrid configuration is determined by the required processing capacity, the feedstock consistency, the target base-oil grade, and the downstream polishing method selected. Balaji Consultants has engineered plants across the full range of these configurations, from 5 TPD batch systems to 50+ TPD continuous WFE-based plants.
Polishing is the final and often most specification-critical stage. Batch clay treatment offers simplicity and low capital cost for lower throughputs; regenerative clay polishing or solvent extraction provides reduced solid waste handling and higher, more consistent product quality at medium-to-large scale. The correct polishing method is selected as part of the overall process configuration, not as an afterthought.

- Feedstock contaminant levels (water, light ends, solids) - determines dehydration configuration
- Required capacity and operational flexibility - determines batch vs. continuous route
- Target base-oil grade and VI specification - determines whether solvent extraction is required
- Polishing target (colour, acid number) - determines clay treatment type and dose
